CAS FAQ's

Is this a magic convention?

The short answer is no.

The best answer is it’Äôs not a magic convention and it’Äôs also not a conference where you just sit back, listen to a bunch of speakers and then go home forgetting 90 percent of what you heard.

CAS feedback has proven that people want "hands on" classes and that's what we give them. There are no "sin-n-listen" lectures. Everyone is actively involved, getting out of their comfort zone and breaking barriers that keep them from reaching their creative potential. We believe, no we KNOW everyone is creative. Not everyone knows how to tap into that creativity though. People who attend CAS learn how! That's one reason we have over 80 percent repeat registrants.

How much magic will I see?

There's little if any magic performed unless a speaker presents a routine as an example of their creativity, or one of the teams invents one on the boat! We focus on creating more than performing.

Will my spouse have fun?

We'll treat your spouse better than other conventions' staff will treat you as a paying registrant. Of course we'll treat you well too. We give the spouses more "goodies" than other conventions give you! That's the other major reason most people come back every year. Their wives tell them "we're going back!"

Is my spouse allowed to attend the conference?

Yes, your spouse can attend as much or as little as desired. Many spouses do come to more than you would think. Remember, it’Äôs NOT a magic convention.

Do I need a passport?

Yes, you'll need a passport to be safe, but they are easy to get as long as you plan ahead. We will help you to understand the system.

How often do you do these cruises?

Once a year in January. January is a great month to cruise and it’Äôs also the best month for entertainer’Äôs to take a week off. 2011 will be our 4th year. We learn more each year and our goal is very simple. Make this year the BEST EVER!

Where does the ship leave from?

We choose a different port and destination each year. Since so many of our registrants come over and over we try to keep em guessing. This year we’Äôre leaving from Charleston SC. Next year could be from TX, SC, FL or even the west coast.

Will the staff be doing a show on the cruise?

We hold our conference on the ship but we are not part of the ship’Äôs entertainment. We are a creativity conference so we get to create during our time together and enjoy the onboard entertainment during our evenings.

Our staff will focus on inspiring our creative thinking. They may choose you use performing examples in their sessions but that’Äôs up to them. Terry Evanswood is our headliner for 2011. You’Äôll get to see a rare look into his creative side, which is part of why he's so successful.

How many days?

The cruise is a 5 day sailing. There are 2 full days at sea. That's when we do our classes. That means you and your spouse or friend can fully enjoy the port cities and any excursions you want. We start around 9 am and are done by 5pm, so evenings are free to enjoy the ship’Äôs entertainment, etc. We have some "optional" evening sessions after the ship’Äôs shows but they are just that - optional.

If you need time away as a couple, you have that, combined with the conference, combined with 75 degrees in January, combined with a tropical vacation.

"The CreativityAtSea.com was a fantastic experience. I made new friends and was able to share personal stories about magic that only a fellow magician would understand. The concept of partnering a cruise ship vacation and a magic convention is brilliant! They are two of my favorite activities combined into one by the CAS experience."
